NEW TRIP!!! Based in Wausau, WI Taste ‘n Glow Balloon Festival is an annual celebration emphasizing the taste of Marathon County. This gala features local restaurants, food vendors, a craft and flea market, log rolling, music and much more. This tour will explore the geologic wonders of the Niagara Falls and some of the most interesting historic sites of the Great Lakes Region. We will take a loop around Lake Erie with stops at Henry Fords’ Greenfield Village, Old Fort Niagara and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Our stops at Niagara will have you behind, above and below the Falls. You’ll need a raincoat on at least three excursions (Hornblower Niagara Cruise/Maid of the Mist, Niagara’s Fury, & Journey Behind the Falls) because you will be so close to the Falls! We’ll “fly over” the Falls in a cable car and have an amazing meal at Skylon Tower, which offers a commanding view of the American and Canadian side of the Falls. The State Fair is always a summer treat for young and old alike! There’s just something about spending time on the shores of Lake Michigan. It’s the smell, the sounds, the gulls floating on the wind – the maritime “feel” is mesmerizing. We have an amazing day planned exploring the lakeside towns of Port Washington and Cedarburg. We’ll begin at the 1860’s Lighthouse & Museum. In 1860, a light tower was erected on top the north bluff overlooking downtown Port Washington and the Lake Michigan shore. This historic light station includes the lighthouse with lantern room atop the modified school house design and keeper’s living quarters. Our guided tour includes a climb to the lantern room, featuring a replica 4th order Fresnel lens and fabulous views. After an included lunch overlooking Lake Michigan we’ll visit Lion’s Den Gorge Nature Preserve. Located on one of the last stretches of undeveloped bluff land along the Lake Michigan shoreline, this jewel features over 1/2 mile of 90 to 100 foot bluffs offering tremendous views of Lake Michigan. In the beautiful town of Cedarburg we’ll welcome a local guide for a relaxed and slow-paced walking tour (about 1 mile). We’ll discover many hidden gems while noshing on some of the most delicious chocolates and desserts you’ve ever had, tied together with a winery visit and time for shopping. If you’ve had the pleasure of visiting Yellowstone National Park you know how remarkable and dramatic it is. Be prepared to be amazed again, again, and again on this motor coach journey exploring the Park in great depth. This excursion will be hosted by Jill Hunger, a retired high school and college geology and biology teacher. Jill has been leading tours to Yellowstone since 1993 for the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, MATC, Viterbo University, and Sauk Prairie High School. She was also a Yellowstone Park Tour Guide for four seasons. We’ll spend five glorious days traversing the Park covering the “popular” sites but also discovering and exploring many of the less traveled regions. The wildlife, the scenery, the gasps in response to the views around each corner, and the vast information provided by Jill make this trip truly unique and exclusive. In addition to our Yellowstone immersion we’ll explore Grand Teton National Park, Mount Rushmore, Badlands National Park, Little Bighorn Battlefield and so much more.
